Monolingual English Oxford Picture Dictionary

The course content is organized into 12 thematic units, including Everyday Language, People, Housing, Food, and Recreation. Each unit begins with an Intro page (a new addition to this edition) and concludes with a story page. The sub-topics within each unit are presented on single or double pages, introducing new words in a realistic visual context and in easy-to-learn "chunks." The target new vocabulary is listed, and simple practice activities are provided to help students apply their newly acquired words.

The story pages feature pre-reading questions to develop previewing and predicting skills, as well as post-reading questions and role-play activities to support critical thinking and encourage students to use the new language they have learned. The rich visual contexts within each unit also serve to reinforce the words from that particular unit.

This structure is designed to address the needs of multilevel classrooms. Supporting components, available in English only, provide additional guidance on this topic, as well as assistance with assessing needs and lesson planning.
